                       Pro Interior Paint Tips

Painting a room is the one remodel project that, sooner or later, every homeowner is bound to undertake. You might be a first-time homeowner wanting to cover the decorating lapses of the previous owners,or perhaps you have lived in your home long enough to have grown tired of the colors.

A little motivation, some elbow grease, and several gallons of paint are all that it takes to transform the dreariest room into a bright and and pleasant space that is a joy to be in.

All pro painters agree that proper preparation is the key to a good-looking,long lasting finish.Clear the room of all the furniture that can be easily removed and all hardware related items like door knobs, window locks, and outlet plates.

Cover the floor with drop cloths or newspaper, and cover any furniture that was not removed.

Scrape all loose, chipped,or peeling paint;spackel dents, cracks can be filled with a paintable caulk;and sand wherever necessary to feather rough edges and slightly roughen the old surface to enable the new paint to adhere.

Paint the ceiling first with a good flat latex ceiling paint.Ceilings, like walls, can be rolled, but in both cases,a great deal of spatter results, which means more clean up.You need a brush to "cut in" the top of the wall, where it meets the ceiling.

Last but not least is the woodwork-windows,doors,baseboard,mouldings-should be painted with a 2 1/2" or 3" angled sash brush that fit more easily into corners. All bare wood exposed by scrapeing and sanding should be spot primed before the first coat of finish paint is applied

Remember anyone can stick a brush in a paint can and slap it on the walls, but it takes a certain degree of skill and care to do the job right, especially on the woodwork.

Repainting a room can add a great deal to your home's charm and and attractive,as well as to its long-term value,The skills required to do the work are not difficult to learn, which makes this an ideal do-it-yourself project.
